Anne Frank Mural

A remarkable and meaningful public artwork called 'Let me be myself' adorns the former welding shed of the NDSM wharf in Amsterdam. This artwork embodies renewal and serves as a memorial to Anne Frank, one of the most prominent historical figures Amsterdam has produced. Created by renowned Brazilian artist Eduardo Kobra, the 'mural' stretches over an area of a whopping 240 square metres. The vibrant colours and the endearing smile on Anne Frank's face evoke a positive response from the viewer. Eduardo Kobra shared his thoughts on this artwork saying, "To this day, her story causes deep reflection and at the same time inspires several young people through the courage and wisdom of this young woman." The 'Let me be myself' mural was created through the use of spray cans and required the use of several aerial platforms to reach the highest reaches of the artwork. The artistic expression reflects not only the life story of Anne Frank, but also the artistic vision of Eduardo Kobra himself.
