Bed-in-for-peace

At first glance, this long-established hotel is a regular hotel chain. However, two extraordinary events have taken place here, between which the contrast could hardly have been greater.

The first story dates from the period from 25 March to 31 March 1969, when John Lennon and Yoko Ono held a ''Bed-In'' at the Amsterdam Hilton hotel. The newlyweds used the publicity surrounding their wedding as a platform for a high-profile protest action. During this time, they did not leave their room. This symbolic protest against the Vietnam War attracted the attention of hundreds of journalists and created an international wave of interest.

During a second ''Bed-In'' in Montreal, Lennon composed the song ''Give Peace a Chance'', which quickly became a popular rallying cry within the peace movement against the Vietnam War. This song reflected the call for peace and appealed to a worldwide audience.
