Beer is top priority

Here's a funny fact about beer and water, now that we're standing here on the Amstel. In the seventeenth century, Large boats were not allowed to enter the city centre because they simply couldn't fit through the canals. The boats unloaded their cargo at places where Amsterdam Central Station now stands, for example, and the goods were transported further by smaller boats into the canals. Except for the boats that transported beer — they were allowed to continue sailing. The Amsterdam of that time knew what they really valued.
