Brewery 'Het Rode Hert'

If you look to the left, just past the bridge, you will see a series of seven magnificent bell gables. What immediately stands out are the images of majestic red deer in the gable tops. These particular gables were once home to brewery 'Het Rode Hert'.

In the year 1840, this brewery started renting water boats. These boats brought clean water from the Vecht in Weesp to Amsterdam, especially for brewing beer. This was a true revolution, as it distinguished 'Het Rode Hert' as the first high-quality brewery that did not use polluted canal water.

The reputation of 'Het Rode Hert' as a well-known brewery in Amsterdam grew quickly. The beer brewed here was known for its outstanding quality. Even today, you can still admire the images of the red deer in the gable tops of the bell gables. They are a wonderful reminder of the rich history of this former brewery.
