De Waterkant

"Along Marnixstraat, you will find a contemporary venue that has been attracting attention for several years. Waterkant, founded in 2014, takes its inspiration from 'De Waterkant' in Paramaribo, the capital of Suriname. Although located in the city centre, Waterkant offers an oasis of calm amid the hustle and bustle. Along the Suriname River stretches a pleasant promenade where you can enjoy the well-known Surinamese hospitality and tasty multicultural snacks and drinks. The founders wanted to bring this feeling to the heart of Amsterdam, and they succeeded particularly well. While boats calmly glide by, guests here have the opportunity to sample local craft beers and relax in a relaxed, beach-like ambiance. The culinary variety is ample, with several types of street food, making this venue ideal for a comprehensive culinary experience. A special highlight was the display of the world's largest rainbow flag during Pride 2022. The vibrant rainbow colours graced the white facades of the adjacent car park, symbolising a joyous celebration of diversity and inclusivity."
