Holocaust Monument Amsterdam

We could tell you a great deal about the war, but this monument says more than a thousand words ever could. Take a moment to walk through it, let it sink in, and feel the weight of what surrounds you. It stands here on Weesperstraat as a permanent tribute to the more than 102,000 Dutch Jews, Sinti and Roma who were persecuted, deported and murdered in Nazi concentration and extermination camps during the Second World War.

For many of those named here, very little is known. No grave, no photograph, sometimes barely more than a name. And yet that name is here. Preserved. Remembered. This monument makes sure that no matter how much time passes, these people will never be forgotten.
