Lab111

Located in Amsterdam's historic Oud West district, LAB111 originates in the former pathological-anatomical laboratory of the Wilhelmina Hospital. This monumental building, influenced by the architecture of Frank Lloyd Wright, has a rich history and a functional design accentuated by Hildo Krop's building sculptures.

The site once served as a mortuary on Nicolaas Beetsstraat, with an adjoining funeral chapel. Today, LAB111 offers a transformation into a quirky cult cinema. The film programme covers various genres, from animated feature films to in-depth cinematic documentaries, with English subtitles for non-Dutch art house enthusiasts.

Besides film screenings, LAB111 hosts exhibitions, debate evenings and Bar Strangelove, a food venue. The adjoining garden contains vegetable gardens and beehives, and there are facilities for room rental, including private screenings and corporate presentations.
