Museum van Loon

Along the majestic Keizersgracht, at number 672, is the residence of Amsterdam's prominent Van Loon family. Willem van Loon, an influential figure in Dutch history and co-founder of the VOC in 1602, lived here. Before the Van Loon family moved in, this historic building was the home of the renowned city painter Ferdinand Bol. Since 1973, the family has opened the doors of their house and collection to the public, giving you a glimpse of their past.

In addition to an impressive collection of 150 family portraits, the atmosphere in particular knows how to enchant you. The lush city garden and extraordinary architectural details offer a unique insight into the prosperity of the Golden Age. A visit to this extraordinary heritage is therefore an absolute must for any history buff.

But that's not all! Recently, the heirs have announced that in the coming years they will open even more parts of the house to interested public, including the famous wine cellar.
