Python Bridge

Amsterdam's East district is home to the Python Bridge, a pedestrian and bicycle bridge that offers a striking and iconic sight. The bridge spans the mouth of the Amsterdam-Rhine Canal and connects Borneo Island with the Eastern Harbour area. Architect Ben van Berkel drew up the design, which was completed in 2001. What makes the Python Bridge so remarkable is its unique, sinuous shape reminiscent of a snake, hence its name.
