St. Nicholas Church

Across from Amsterdam's Central Station stands the imposing Basilica of St Nicholas. Designed by A.C. Bleijs, a renowned architect of the time, this church was built between 1884 and 1887. It is the third church in Amsterdam with the name St Nicolaas, alongside the Oude Kerk on the Oudezijds Voorburgwal and the famous hideaway church 'Our Lord in the Attic'. The location of the basilica, amid the historic ramparts and the IJ, carries symbolic significance, in line with the rich history of the area.
