The Johan Cruijff monument

The bronze statue of Johan Cruyff is a tribute to legendary Dutch footballer and coach Johan Cruyff. This impressive statue stands prominently on the Johan Cruijff boulevard, next to the Amsterdam ArenA, the home stadium of AFC Ajax, the club closely associated with Cruyff's football career as a player and coach. 

The city of Amsterdam commissioned and entrusted this statue to talented sculptor Eric Kamphuis in 2007. Its unveiling took place on the occasion of Johan Cruyff's 60th birthday. The statue shows Cruyff in his iconic number 14 Ajax shirt, standing on a football with his other foot on a pedestal. 

The Johan Cruyff statue is not only an important landmark in Amsterdam, but also a place of pilgrimage for fans of Cruyff and Ajax. It embodies the deep appreciation of Cruyff's immense contribution to football and his lasting legacy as one of the most respected players and coaches in the history of the sport.
