The Pieter Cornelisz (PC) Hooftstraat

PC Hooftstraat is considered a preferred destination for avid shoppers with a generous willingness to spend. Named after the famous Dutch poet Pieter Corneliszoon Hooft, son of a former mayor of Amsterdam, this street is a symbol of exclusive retail. Established in conjunction with the Vondelpark in the late 19th century, the street is characterised by sophisticated design.

PC Hooftstraat is considered the most luxurious shopping street in the Netherlands and is sometimes compared to New York's renowned Fifth Avenue. Here you will find leading brands such as Cartier, Louis Vuitton, Chanel and Hermes. Apart from the elegant boutiques, the street offers opportunities to relax with a refreshing drink. It is not unusual to come across well-known Dutch personalities such as sportsmen, musicians and television personalities during a leisurely stroll.

In 2006, a special race took place in PC Hooftstraat - the very first Glamour Stiletto Run. This unique running competition, held in the street over a distance of 75 metres, involved participants in heels at least 7 centimetres high. They competed for a prize that was sure to attract attention: shop credit worth €10,000 in PC Hooftstraat.
