The Vondelbunker

Under the bridge on Eerste Constantijn Huygensstraat is a hidden bunker, known as the Vondelbunker. Dating from 1947, this bunker originally served as a shelter against potential nuclear threats. It has currently been transformed into a cultural centre. Visitors are most welcome!

At the Vondelbunker, a group of volunteers manages an initiative with the concept of "space as a political concept". The organisation makes space available, usually free of charge. This approach stems from the idea that there are few places in Amsterdam where such spaces are freely accessible. Here, an environment is created where individuals can express themselves, develop their skills and participate without commercial interests.
