Tottenham Hotspurs

This iconic football club made history by winning the FA Cup in 1901 as a non-League side, a feat no team has repeated since. Tottenham Hotspur, known as Spurs, is one of English football's most celebrated institutions. Founded in 1882 by schoolboys from local grammar schools, the club took its name from Harry Hotspur, a medieval rebel whose family once owned land in this area. 

Their Latin motto "Audere est Facere" means "to dare is to do," capturing their bold spirit perfectly. The 1901 FA Cup triumph remains their most remarkable achievement. Playing in the Southern League, Spurs defeated First Division Sheffield United 3 to 1 in a replay, becoming the only team outside the Football League to claim the trophy since 1888. Sandy Brown scored in every round, netting 15 goals total. 

For 118 years, Spurs played at White Hart Lane, built on land behind the White Hart pub off Tottenham High Road. The stadium hosted over 2,500 competitive matches from 1899 to 2017 before demolition began. The new Tottenham Hotspur Stadium now stands on the same hallowed ground where White Hart Lane once stood. Opening in 2019 with a capacity of 62,850, it features the world's first retractable pitch designed for both football and NFL games. Son Heung min scored the first official goal in the new stadium during a 2 to 0 victory over Crystal Palace.
