La Villette

Parc de la Villette in the northeast of Paris is an urban park that combines culture, architecture, and recreation. Built in 1987 on the former city slaughterhouses, it spans more than 55 hectares. The park is known for its red “folies,” modern pavilions scattered as landmarks across the landscape, and its mix of gardens, play areas, and cultural venues such as the Cité des Sciences and the Le Zénith concert hall.

During the Paris 2024 Olympic Games, Parc de la Villette took on a special role. It hosted the national houses of various countries, becoming a lively meeting place where supporters, athletes, and visitors came together to celebrate their nations’ achievements and discover each other’s cultures.
