If you visit Paris with your loved one, you really have to stop here. In the heart of Montmartre, near Place des Abbesses, you’ll find Le Mur des Je t’aime – the Wall of I Love You. This artwork from 2000 is made up of over six hundred dark blue tiles with “I love you” written in more than two hundred fifty languages.
Artist Frédéric Baron spent years collecting love declarations from people around the world. Together with calligrapher Claire Kito, he brought them together in white letters on the wall. The small red marks on the background symbolize broken hearts that come together to form one big heart.
