You’re standing outside the Musée du Parfum Fragonard at 9 Rue Scribe in the 9th arrondissement. This perfume history museum opened in 1982 and offers visitors a sensory exploration. Fragonard, the brand behind the museum collection, dates back to 1926 and is named after painter Jean‑Honoré Fragonard.

Founder Eugène Fuchs, a former notary, dedicated himself to high‑quality fragrance creation inspired by 5,000 years of scent traditions. Guided tours are free, and visitors may participate in crafting their own fragrance. In the Olfaction Room, you can test your senses by identifying fragrance families.

Exhibits display rare artifacts in chronological order—from ancient Egyptian aromatic oils to modern extracts. Above the museum is a shop offering perfumes, soaps and gift boxes. Do you think your nose has what it takes to be a real perfumer?
