Musée Nissim de Camondo

Musée Nissim de Camondo is located at sixty‑two Rue de Monceau in Paris’s 8th arrondissement, just next to Parc Monceau. Originally built in the late eighteenth century for banker Moïse de Camondo in memory of his son Nissim, who died during World War I.

After the war, Moïse donated the mansion and collection to Les Arts décoratifs. During World War II the family lost nearly everything; only Moïse’s widow escaped — the rest were deported and died in Auschwitz. The museum exhibits a remarkable collection of eighteenth-century French decorative arts: Louis XV and XVI furniture, exquisite tapestries, and fine cabinetry.

The building is classified as a historic monument; a major restoration was completed to preserve its interior and objects. It remains closed until early August 2024 for renovation.
