Muséum National d'Histoire Naturelle

The Muséum National d’Histoire Naturelle, founded in 1793, is a major institution for natural history research. The site originally started as a royal garden for medicinal plants in 1635. Over the centuries, the museum expanded into a leading center for biology, geology, paleontology, and botany.

The Grande Galerie de l’Évolution showcases the diversity of life with impressive animal displays. Other halls focus on mineralogy, paleontology with dinosaur skeletons, and an extensive fossil collection. The complex includes the Jardin des Plantes, a 28-hectare botanical garden with thousands of plant species, greenhouses, and a labyrinth.

The historic Menagerie, one of the oldest zoos, is also located here. The museum offers exhibitions and educational programs for all ages and is known as a knowledge hub for natural sciences.
