Stravinsky Fountain 

Right next to the Centre Pompidou, you’ll suddenly find yourself face-to-face with the Stravinsky Fountain—a playful artwork where sixteen moving sculptures spray water, all inspired by Igor Stravinsky’s music.

Designed in 1983 by Jean Tinguely and Niki de Saint Phalle, the fountain is a colorful spectacle on Place Stravinsky. Tinguely’s black, mechanical shapes and De Saint Phalle’s brightly colored figures create a playful scene, reminiscent of a music box.

Each sculpture represents a piece of music, like ‘The Firebird’ or ‘The Key of G’. At its inauguration, even Mayor Jacques Chirac and Minister of Culture Jack Lang attended. Since then, the fountain has become a beloved, iconic spot in Paris. Reviews are mixed, but when you stand here, you mostly feel the energy, humor, and artistic spirit of this unique place.
