Those towering metal sculptures in front of you? They're just the beginning. Welcome to Cross Club, where literally everything is made from trash, car parts, and discarded machinery. František Sádra Chmelík and a group of friends opened this place in 2002 as a private rehearsal space. Just somewhere for DJs to practice. Word got out. Fast. They raised over 500,000 Czech koruna through crowdfunding to expand. What started as one room grew into 3 floors of industrial chaos. Twisting gears, blinking lights, hissing pipes. Every surface, every corner, every detail crafted from waste materials. And it's still changing. Chmelík and his team keep adding to it. The Guardian named it one of the 25 best venues in Europe in 2014. Not bad for a place built from junk. Inside you'll find 2 stages pumping out everything from drum and bass to punk rock. But Cross Club isn't just about music. Theater companies perform here. Poets read. Films screen. During afternoons, kids watch puppet shows in the same space that hosts raging techno sets at night. The café serves vegan food. The outdoor courtyard spans multiple rickety levels. You're standing in Holešovice, the city's hub of experimental culture, where a rehearsal space became legend.
