Attractive nesting cavity

--:--
--:--

The ring-necked parakeet is originally a tropical bird, but has become an integral part of many Dutch cities. This exotic species was released in Rotterdam in the 1970s on the Landgoed de Tempel estate in Overschie and has since thrived throughout the city. You can see them flying around in every city park in Rotterdam. Here in Museumpark, too, they regularly look for a hollow to breed in. The hollow in the plane tree has been a breeding site for several years, but this nest has now been taken over by a jackdaw.
