Chabot Museum

In the leafy Museumpark stands the Chabot Museum, a true gem for lovers of art and architecture. Dedicated to Dutch painter and sculptor Henk Chabot, the museum honors his powerful depictions of farmers, gardeners, and the Dutch landscape. His later works capture the lives of refugees and people in hiding during wartime—a moving and essential part of the country's modern art history.

The museum is housed in a striking white villa from 1938, a prime example of the “Nieuwe Bouwen” (New Building) movement. This architectural style, which emerged in the 1920s and 1930s, emphasized simplicity, light, and functionality, and can also be seen in icons like the Van Nelle Factory, Huis Sonneveld, and Stadion Feijenoord.
