Nieuwe Instituut

Standing in front of the Nieuwe Instituut, you're not looking at a traditional museum. There are no dusty artifacts behind glass here, no chronological timelines of the distant past. This building is deliberately pointed at the future, and it wants you to lean in with it.

The institute sits at the heart of Rotterdam's Museumpark, and its focus is as broad as it is urgent. Housing shortages, climate change, artificial intelligence, urban planning: these are the conversations happening inside. Architects, designers, and digital makers are given space to share their ideas, not just display them. The difference matters. This is a place of thinking in progress.

What makes it especially refreshing is who gets included. Children and young people are invited into hands-on workshops where they can experiment with design themselves. Fashion, interior design, gaming, city planning: all of it falls under the institute's roof, connected by one underlying question: how does innovation actually shape the way we live?
