Griftpark

The Griftpark in Utrecht, once the site of a gas factory, is now a vibrant 13-hectare green oasis. This versatile park is a favourite spot for Utrecht residents and out-of-town visitors alike, thanks to its wide range of facilities and activities. The park offers a skate park, playground, sports fields and barbecue areas. There is also a restaurant with a cosy terrace, perfect for relaxation and social gatherings.

The name 'Griftpark' comes from the canal the Grift that flows through the park. This canal was once an important artery for shipping and trade in Utrecht. Today, it adds to the atmosphere and beauty of the park.

The Griftpark is also known for its cultural events, including the Zimihc Cultuurparkfestival. This annual festival with music, dance, theatre and art attracts thousands of visitors and provides a stage for local artists and cultural institutions. The park is also the venue for the Trek festival, a popular event that offers a wide range of culinary experiences combined with entertainment and culture. The Trek festival is a delightful experience for foodies and culture lovers.

So the Griftpark is much more than a park; it is a vibrant centre of recreation, culture and history, where Utrechters and visitors come together to enjoy all it has to offer.
