Stretching across the Nieuwe Maas, a striking structure unites two parts of the city while standing tall as a symbol of Rotterdam itself: the Erasmus Bridge. With its graceful lines and engineering brilliance, it’s become one of the city’s most iconic landmarks.

Nicknamed “The Swan” for its 139-meter-high curved steel pylon, the bridge is supported by 40 cables. Its sleek silhouette has defined the skyline since 1996, blending design and function seamlessly.

Shortly after opening, the deck showed movement during strong winds, but this was quickly fixed with innovative dampers that ensured stability and safety.

Today, the Erasmus Bridge is more than infrastructure—it’s a stage for city life. Spanning over 800 meters, it connects the vibrant city center with the dynamic Kop van Zuid. From marathons to firework shows, it’s part of the rhythm of Rotterdam.

Crossing this bridge means experiencing the essence of the city: bold, modern, and always moving forward.
