Walking alongside the tranquil waters of Canal Saint‑Martin, you traverse a historic waterway that has stood the test of time. Constructed between 1802 and 1825 to bring drinking water to Paris, transport grain from the Ourcq region and periodically cleanse the streets, the canal now serves as a peaceful green corridor with locks, footbridges and riverside paths.

Every ten years, the canal is fully drained for cleaning and often yields surprising finds such as bicycles, traffic signs or trash bins—sometimes even rare artifacts. Along its banks lie cafés, restaurants and galleries looking out over the water in a relaxed setting.

On weekends, boat tours allow you to explore the city from its waterside. Street art by local artists such as Miss.Tic and Space Invaders decorates buildings along the canal and adds a contemporary visual flair. This Parisian area offers tranquility and urban energy, ideal for cultural discovery.
