Vincent van Gogh was a prominent Dutch painter, born on 30 March 1853 in Zundert, North Brabant. His European travels focused on exploring artistic expression. During this period, with his brother Theo van Gogh as unwavering support, his remarkable talent gained recognition.

Van Gogh's oeuvre often reflected everyday scenes, with masterpieces such as "The Potato Eaters" being highlights of his craftsmanship. His stay in Paris brought him into contact with prominent artists, which furthered his artistic development. His unique approach to paint, using balls of wool to explore colour combinations, is a source of curiosity.

The sun-drenched streets of Arles, southern France, were the inspiration for some of his most striking works. Despite these artistic triumphs, however, he struggled with inner demons and mental turmoil. The tragic incident in which he cut off part of his ear after a conflict with Paul Gauguin testifies to his inner struggle.

After returning to northern France, in Auvers-sur-Oise, his confused state of mind became increasingly dominant. On 27 July 1890, amid vast fields, he committed suicide by shooting a bullet into his chest. Two days later, his life died out.

Vincent van Gogh's legacy represents a journey of intense emotion. His artworks are now considered valuable masterpieces and are exhibited in internationally respected art galleries and museums, including the renowned Van Gogh Museum in Amsterdam. His correspondence, steeped in his inner world, offers insight into the heart and mind of one of the greatest artists of all time.
